I have now spent one night in the “beautiful” city of Thingri, 4200 MSL. A small, filthy town, which resembles more like a scene from a western movie than anything else I have ever experienced. Surrounded by endless view of mountain chains, Thingri is defiantly a place I will remember, but not for the incredible sight, but for all the loose dogs running around.
Horseback riding have been one part of today’s exercises, including hiking to about 4900 MSL, still to acclimatize to the rising altitude.
Tomorrow morning we are heading for Base Camp, about 5300 MSL. This will include an even longer drive into Tibet, before we turn around and head in the direction of Nepal again. All my equipment for further research has already been transported to the camp.
Feeling great and looking forward to further challenges…
